When I saw that John Heder was doing another movie in his famous “Napoleon Dynamite” type character, I really really wanted to see it. Napoleon Dynamite is such a funny freakin movie (well, the first 1/2 at least) and I can remember when Jason and I watched it nearly everyday. We were going to see it in the theatre, but I rarely have time to see movies anymore. So we downloaded a cam of it and watched it last night. I was a little afraid it was going to be really stupid and un-funny, but I was SO wrong! This movie had us laughing so hard we were crying in many parts of it. And it’s not just stupid-funny, it’s really damn funny! John Heder’s character (Clark) was the highlight of the movie for me - everything he said and did was just hilareous. David Spade and Rob Schneider were funny too and for once, Rob Schneider didn’t annoy the hell out of me. I really recommend seeing this - it’s worth a theatre ticket for sure!
Tyler is growing up SO fast, it’s almost scary. I see pictures from last summer and he looks like a totally different kid.
Here are some recent pictures (Click “Continue Reading)…
Here are a few pictures of our new apartment. We have plans for all new furniture in the near future, but for now, it’s slightly messy.
It’s been a really great weekend and I’m feeling real happy. I’ve been happy in general lately, but things are just going very well for me and I feel like I’m on a great track.
We got a lot of things put away this weekend and it always feels good to get settled. It feels like we’ve been here longer than just 1 week! Which is a really good thing - I love our new apartment (even if it IS just an apartment). We’ve painted the living room a light sage/olive green and the adjoining dining room wall is a shade darker of that color. It looks REALLY nice. Next weekend, the kitchen will be done. The color is called “Toffee Crunch”. They have such funny names for paint colors and they really make no sense! But it’s a yellowish-goldish-light tannish color. Very pretty and will go really nice. There are already cherry cabinets and a really nice granite counter top with all new white appliances. There is an eat-in area that we just got a dining room table & chairs for that looks SO nice in there. We’ll have a red accent color in that room when all is finished and it’s going to be sharp. (The actual “dining room” is our computer area.)
Lots of things are far from finished but it’s a start and I’m happy with that!
I also finished my first week of online studies for art school. Online classes are a bit tough because they are so fast paced and require a large amount of participation. My entire class is only 5.5 weeks long and we are required to log-in and contribute 4 days a week. There were 5 assignments this week. I finished most of them all at once this morning and they turned out real nice. I will post them in a bit. It’s “Fundamentals of Design” so it’s easy stuff like positive/negative space and the like.
We went out to eat last night at Chilis and I deviated from my normal Monterey Chicken and got Chicken Tacos. I think it may have been a big mistake because I felt rather sick all night and I’m still not recovered. I have pain in my stomach and I know it was from that food. We thought of a movie last night, but I wasn’t feeling up for it. I think I was sleeping by about 10:30. Well, we both were. It’s been a LONG 2-3 weeks and this was the first “relaxing” weekend in over a month.
Tyler’s room received a face-lift this weekend too and his room is PIMP. I put up his basketball net/ball (it’s a small one), he got a new bookcase, I hung his curtains and we found some sweet Spiderman stickers for his walls. (they aren’t permanent, just the peel-stick ones). His room is lookin sharp.
We played some pool today. AND ping pong. Our apartment’s clubhouse is SO nice. BIG work-out area, indoor AND outdoor swimming pools, free pool tables, big screen TV, some free food each day of the week, ping pong tables, basketball courts, tennis courts, volleyball courts and a few playlands outdoors for kids. It’s a great asset to the community and I really hope we take advantage of it as much as possible. They’ve made a really nice neighborhood here and I like it. Not to mention that I’m about 2 stop lights away from one of the biggest malls in the world. And across the street from Motorola. Can’t beat it.
So I’m just relishing the positive things going on right now and enjoying life. I’m going to try to post more - I always have things to say. It’s the time to sit down and type them out that I don’t have. But I will try to make more time soon.
Above are some pictures of the apartment and Tyler’s room and my schoolwork. I’d love feedback about the assignments and any comments on the pictures anyone is willing to give.
Have a nice week!
