30 Seconds to Mars - April 1, 2006 - Metro - Chicago, IL

30 Seconds to Mars is finally coming to town - HEADLINING.

Best news I’ve heard all week.

I bought Jae and I tickets yesterday and I couldn’t be more excited!! I actually remember Jae had their first cd when it came out (that had to have been like 4 years ago I think) and he use to play it all the time for a while. I liked it but never really got into it.
Then they somewhat disappeared for a couple years and I became a huge fan when “Attack” first came out. I think Sara sent me the link to the video and I’ve been hooked ever since.

Such an amazing band and I cannot WAIT to see them live.

ParthenonTemple.com

I own and run www.parthenontemple.com, and I’m finally starting to add more content to it this week.

I’m a huge ancient western history buff, and I’ve read about and studied Athens and the acropolis for years. My favorite structure obviously being the Parthenon.
When doing research last year, I realized there is a huge lack of central information on the temple. There are pieces here and there, and most of the sites are very old looking and hard to navigate. So I took it on to build an educational resource on the web for the Parthenon.

I update it little by little, but would like to start doing more to it. I actually get a substantial amount of traffic, but I realize that people probably always go elsewhere after a few minutes because I have very little content. I’ve integrated Amazon books on the Parthenon and I have google ads on about 1/2 of the pages. I just need more content.

So, just thinking out loud here, I’ve added 3 articles today (not uploaded yet) and I need to find a good PHP script for a photo gallery. Then I will add the pictures, arch. plans, drawings, etc that I’ve accumulated, and maybe I can keep some of the quality traffic I’m receiving.

After I’m finished with this one, I would love to expand and do a few more on Ancient Greece, possibly ancient Rome, Greek Mythology, maybe even ancient Egypt.

What a weird hobby huh? lol. I’m smiling and shaking my head.

Movin’ on up..

For anyone who reads this but doesn’t really talk to me much in real life, you may not know that Jason and I have been house hunting for the past almost month. We have a great realtor, Tom, who is a very nice guy. He’s not the smarmy type that tries to SELL you on every place you walk in. He’s very easy going and gives each place an honest look-over with us when we go in. If it’s crap (which we’ve had a few), we all have no problems promptly walking back out. He’s been helping me look for a place since the summer. I took a break for a few months because I wasn’t finding what I wanted in my price range, and now that Jason and I are buying together, we have a much larger budget and I’m enjoying it 100x more this time around.

I work in Schaumburg - which is the largest suburb of Chicago about 25 miles northwest of the city. Jason works another 15 or so miles west of that in Lake in the Hills. Currently we’re in Cary, which is very close to LITH. It’s about an hour drive each way for me to work, but honestly I don’t mind it that much. Of course I hate traffic, but when it comes to a good value real estate area, Schaumburg is REALLY hard to find something nice in our price range. Most townhouses are 300K+ and houses 500K+. Of course you can find cheaper, but we have some steep requirements and I refuse to compromise on certain things (basement, garage, etc).

So we decided early on to stay in the Lake in the Hills area - at least it will be close to work for one of us. :-) And right now, LITH area is being completely built up around Randall Road and it is still a somewhat small town - good schools - good house value, etc - and we can actually afford a very nice place. And we have also decided to find a newer, nice townhouse - as opposed to a regular house. We cannot afford a brand new construction house - and we don’t want a fixer-upper. That leaves the newer townhouses falling into our price range. Which is fine with me - we only plan on staying 3-5 years anyway. By then we hope to be blingin’ and can get something else that suits us. (lol).

After looking at a couple dozen places, I think we’ve found a townhouse that is perfect for us.
2 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom, full finished walk-out basement, 2 car garage, nice sized loft, HUGE master bathroom with whirlpool tub and separate shower, fireplace in living room, nice kitchen with breakfast bar and attached dining room.
There are a few things I can see right off that we will be upgrading - linoleum flooring in the kitchen/dining area will most likely be replaced. Even some of the carpet I would like to replace to wood. Lighting, paint, etc. But that is the fun stuff.
It is actually well under our price limit - and by comparison to the other units in the neighborhood we’ve found out that we can talk them down a bit also. So we’re meeting up with Tom this week to discuss our plan of action, and I think we’ll be making a bid by Friday or earlier.

I’m so very excited, being that this is my first home purchase. I cannot wait to get out of my apartment and be able to fix things myself when I see fit. I avoid doing ANYthing to my apartment because I know I’m just moving out in a few months. (May 1).

So wish us luck, but I think things are going to work out great. We’re also in the midst of picking out furniture, new TV, all that fun stuff. It’s a very exciting time for us and I’m looking forward to becoming a home owner!

Theme

I’m trying out this new theme.. I will be changing the green and the “glassy” look I’m not too excited about. So those changes will come this weekend - but I like the way it’s layed out. I’ll try to use this for a while.

AND I’m going to be posting more. I’m also busy developing a TV show blog www.fupatube.com. Check it out. We’re finishing up the theme, banner and we need a tagline. If you have any witty ideas, let me know. haha..

Update

Yes, I need to update/fix my theme.
